Facelift Concerns: What If I Scar Easily?

Our bodies’ ability to form scars is a wonderful thing when it comes to survival. However, when it comes to appearance, it’s a different story. Scars can be embarrassing, discouraging, and worrisome, especially when they occur on the face.

At Front Range Plastic and Surgery, we are very familiar with all the aspects of scars, because we are the go-to office for facelift operations. Scars are a common concern for facelift patients. The thing is, everyone’s skin is a bit different: some people’s skin scars only a little, and other skin scars dramatically. If you have skin that scars easily, this blog is for you. We want to share insights that will give you confidence!

  1. Facial skin is different
    • The skin on your face heals faster and more thoroughly than the skin on the rest of your body. It experiences high blood flow that allows incisions to heal so well, scar tissue isn’t as necessary. That means that the scar on your knee or arm is not a good indicator of how your face will handle its scars.
  2. Scars aren’t permanent
    • Over the year after a scar is formed, it improves in appearance. That means that the small incisions required for a facelift practically disappear over the year following the procedure.

No blog can replace a face-to-face conversation with our Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Schutte. He will be able to assess any other scars you have and give you the personalized input you need to move forward with confidence. Contact our welcoming Loveland office today for an appointment!
