How to Keep Skin Looking Younger for Longer

Artboard

Many of our patients seek out our facelift services in Loveland as a way to lift the skin on their face to diminish the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. As we age, the skin on our face begins to lose some of its elasticity. This is primarily what causes our skin to start to wrinkle and droop, giving a more aged appearance. There are a number of things you can do to counteract these natural effects of aging in order to retain a more youthful appearance. If you are concerned about the appearance of your skin, try some of these tips to regain younger-looking skin.

Try These Tips For More Youthful-Looking Skin!

Eat a healthy diet.

What you eat plays an important role in the health of your skin. Eating a balanced, healthy diet that’s full of fruits and vegetables as well as things like nuts that are full of Omega-3’s can help keep your skin healthy. The nutrients can help your skin retain it’s elasticity for longer and help you avoid skin issues like eczema, acne, and rosacea. Any of these issues can cause your skin to start aging prematurely.

Drink lots of water.

No matter how much moisturizer you use, though, it’s no good if the rest of your body is dehydrated. Drinking plenty of water (at least eight 8 oz. glasses each day) will help keep your skin well hydrated so your moisturizer can work better. The fluids will also help flush toxins out of your system that can create issues with your skin.

Drop bad habits.

If you care about your skin, you might need to drop some of the bad habits that could be hurting it. Things like smoking and drinking excessively are going to age your skin quickly and create more wrinkles than you would otherwise have if you didn’t have these habits. You should also stop skipping out on sleep. Getting eight hours of sleep each night will keep your skin looking healthier and help you avoid dark bags under your eyes.

Stay out of the sun.

The sun is your skin’s worst enemy. Not only do you need to worry about skin cancer from too much exposure to UV rays, but the sun can start prematurely aging your skin as well. Use face products like moisturizers and foundations with sun protection built in. If you spend time out in the sun, wear a hat that offers you shade and cover up when you can.

Of course, all of these tips work better the earlier you implement them. If your skin is already starting to sag and wrinkle, you can use these tips to prevent further damage, but they won’t reverse what’s already been done. But we can. If you are concerned about the wrinkles and lines you see when you look in the mirror, come into our office for a consultation about facelifts. We’ll help you determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure and show you the difference it can make in your self-confidence.
