Here at Front Range Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, our main goal is to make sure you’re educated and aware of the options available to you. Breast augmentation is now the #1 cosmetic surgical procedure in the world. With growing popularity, myths and misconceptions can occur that may negatively affect your decision. We’re here to set the record straight today on some of the more common misconceptions so that if you’re considering breast augmentation in Loveland, you can make a positive, educated decision for yourself.

  1. Breast implants need to be replaced every 10 years. This is a common misconception that we hear quite a bit and it’s false. As long as the implants are soft and the woman is happy with her appearance, there’s no need to switch them out. However, you should still mentally prepare yourself for another surgery in the future because with the passage of time they may need a lift or want to change the size or style of the implant.
  2. If a silicone breast implant ruptures, the silicone will migrate to other parts of the body. This could happen with old silicone implants, but they were removed from the market in the early 1990’s. Now, the new silicone implants can be cut in half with a pair of scissors and the silicone will stay together.
  3. Botox can be used to life the breast. This is a scam that has been circling the Internet. There are no properly performed scientific studies showing that this is effective and physiologically, trying to perform a breast augmentation with botox does not make sense.
